I entered text to be able to create an example ending and signature line on a sales contract. Type in a paragraph or other content that you want to save. To create your own block, we will start by opening a blank Word document. When inserting your building blocks into a Word document, you can choose to Insert content only, Insert content in its own paragraph, or Insert content in its own page. For example, maybe you only need a certain building block for contracts, so you save the specific block in the template that is used to create all of your contracts. Or, if you want them only to be available to documents based on a certain template, you can save the building blocks just to a specific template that you have created. It might be helpful to save the building blocks in the Normal.dotm template so that they are available for all new documents. Savingīy default, Word saves building blocks in template files, usually in the Building Blocks.dotx template. Use a category name that makes sense to you. You can create your own category names for easy finding of your building block in the list. By default the assigned category is General. This is essentially another way of grouping the items. CategoryĪnother way of organizing the building blocks is by category. You do have the option of creating a new gallery or assigning your new building block to another gallery. If you create a new building block, it will be put in the Quick Parts gallery. Examples of galleries are Cover Pages, Footers, Headers, Page Numbers, Quick Tables, and Watermarks. The organizer is by default listed according to Gallery, which is a way of dividing the building blocks into similar groups. The Building Blocks Organizer window appears.
